You saw this in yesterday's post and if you look at the price on the site, it is $29. So I figured, "who would want to pay $29 for a studded turband when you can just make one yourself?" Which is why I decided to make a DIY post; also I haven't made a DIY post in awhile.
- Old Black T-shirt (if you don't have one, check out your local Goodwill/Salvation Army/Thrift Store
- 5/8" gold studs at studsandspikes.com - $7.48 for bag of 50
- Needle nose pliers
- 2 safety pins
- Needle and black thread
First cut a strip off the old t-shirt (I did a width of 8 inches)
Then take the strip and tie it like a turband (if you don't know how, here is how to tie it) Also, please excuse the messy room and my face in the first picture, I was accidentally biting the inside of my cheeks when the picture was taken.
Start with it behind your head like so ^^^
Then "criss-cross" it ^^^
Then wrap it around once, or "criss-cross" it again ^^^
Then pin the sides with the safety pins (be careful not to poke yourself!) Then sew the edges together so you don't have to wear the safety pins in it. ^^^
Then stud it on both sides using the needle nose pliers to make sure they get through both layers of fabric and then curve the pokey things (I don't know what they're called but you know what I'm talking about) inward to make sure they don't fall out. I did 3 studs each side. And enjoy your new studded turband that costs WAY more than half of what you'd pay if you got it at ROCK N' ROSE.
